FAQ
1.What core standards must cable sleeving for data centers comply with?
It shall meet NFPA 75 (data center fire protection), TIA-942 (infrastructure), UL 94 V-0 (flame retardancy), and RoHS (environmental protection). Fire stopping is required for penetrations through walls and floors to maintain the fire resistance rating of building structures.
2. How to select materials for commonly used data center sleeving?
1. Braided sleeving (PET / Nylon): Cost-effective, wear-resistant, and flame-retardant, ideal for general wiring harness protection.
2.Meta-Aramid braided sleeving: Heat resistant from -55℃ to 240℃ with excellent flame resistance, suitable for high-temperature and high-density areas.
3.Zipper / Hook-and-loop sleeving: Easy cable installation and reusable opening, perfect for frequent Moves, Adds, and Changes.
4. Hook and loop shielding cable sleeve: Provides EMI shielding, used for separation between power cables and communication cables.

3.Zipper / Hook-and-loop sleeving: Easy cable installation and reusable opening, perfect for frequent Moves, Adds, and Changes.
4. Hook and loop shielding cable sleeve: Provides EMI shielding, used for separation between power cables and communication cables.
3. What precautions should be taken when using sleeving for optical fibers?
Optical fibers are sensitive to bending. The inner diameter of the sleeving shall reserve 1.5 to 2 times extra space, and the bending radius shall be no less than 10 times the diameter of the optical cable. Avoid sharp edges to prevent micro-bending loss.
4. How to efficiently manage wiring harnesses in high-density cabinets?
Adopt split/zipper cable sleeving for easy cable addition and removal. Group cables by function (power, data, optical fiber) and use color coding for identification. Secure the sleeving at intervals of 15~20 cm, and keep it clear of hot and cold aisles.
5. Where is Hook and Loop Cable Tape used in data centers?
Used to fasten vertical cable bundles to ladder rack rungs in overhead distribution pathways, wraps around both bundle and rack to prevent heavy bundles from slipping
6. What are the temperature and flame retardancy requirements for sleeving?
Data centers prefer -40℃ to 125℃ heat resistance, UL 94 V-0 flame rating, and low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) materials to minimize fire hazards.
7. Can power and data cables share the same cable sleeving?
Strictly prohibited. Per standards, power cables and data/fiber cables must use separate sleeving/trays with ≥30cm spacing. Crossings should be perpendicular to avoid interference and safety risks.
8. Does sleeving block cabinet airflow?
Proper use does not hinder cooling. Choose mesh/braided sleeving for airflow; avoid over-tight bundling; keep clear of hot/cold aisles.
9. Which sleeving for frequent MACs (Moves, Adds, Changes)?
Zipper/hook-and-loop braided sleeving is preferred; there is no need to disassemble, it opens quickly, protects existing harnesses, and maintains compliance.
