Automotive Wire Harness Protection

PET Braided Sleeve

Vehicle wire harnesses face constant vibration, friction and bending. Expandable PET braided sleeving provides dependable abrasion resistance, keeps cable bundles organized and supports clean routing throughout the vehicle.

Built for moving harnesses

Key Features for Automotive Wiring

An expandable woven construction combines flexible installation with reliable mechanical protection for common vehicle harness routes.

  • Easy InstallationThe expandable structure slides over connectors and cable bundles. Hot-knife cutting is recommended to produce clean edges with less fraying.
  • Abrasion ResistanceAbrasion-proof and cut-resistant construction withstands more than 10,000 bending cycles and protects insulation from vibration, friction and pulling stress.
  • Expandable ConstructionExpands up to 1.5× its nominal diameter, helping the sleeve pass over larger connectors and fit different automotive harness sizes.
  • Flame & Temperature PerformanceUL VW-1 flame rating, −50°C to 150°C operating range and 240±10°C melting point support stable performance under alternating temperatures.

PET Braided Sleeving Applications in Automotive Wiring

Flexible black PET braided sleeving protects and organizes harnesses across common vehicle areas where wiring is exposed to movement, vibration and surface wear.

Black PET braided sleeving protecting a general under-hood automotive wire harness
APPLICATION 01

General Under-Hood Harnesses

Wiring near the engine bay sees changing temperatures, light friction and contact with nearby parts. Where project temperature specifications allow, PET braided sleeve provides basic wear protection and keeps harnesses tidy.

Black PET braided sleeving on seat motor wiring
APPLICATION 02

Seat Motor Wiring

Seat motor wires move and bend whenever the seat is adjusted. Expandable PET braided sleeving withstands repeated motion, resists surface wear and keeps seat harnesses well organized.

APPLICATION 03

Heating Pad and Lumbar Support Cables

Heating pad and lumbar support cables bend repeatedly during everyday use. PET braided sleeving withstands frequent flexing, reduces friction on cable jackets and helps these seat-function cables last longer.

APPLICATION 04

Airbag Deployment Wires

Airbag wiring must remain fully intact. Lightweight PET braided sleeve adds mechanical protection, helping prevent outer-jacket damage from assembly stress and ongoing vehicle vibration.

APPLICATION 05

Sensor Cables at Hinge Points

Sensor cables at hinge points rub and flex as parts open and close. PET braided sleeving slides over cables for quick installation and protects signal wires from wear caused by repeated hinge movement.

APPLICATION 06

Door Harnesses

Door harnesses experience vibration and repeated flexing every time the door opens or closes. Expandable PET braided sleeving suits complex door-wire routes, resists abrasion and keeps harnesses neat.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the right diameter for automotive cables?

Measure both the finished harness OD and the largest connector OD. Select a sleeve that fits the harness and can expand over the connector. PET braided sleeving can expand up to 1.5× its nominal diameter.

How do I install PET braided sleeving on automotive wiring?

Align the sleeving with the harness end and slide it along the wiring into position. Cut-to-length processing is available, and hot-knife cutting is recommended for clean, fray-free edges.

Can PET braided sleeving be used in engine-compartment areas?

It is suitable only for general under-hood zones where temperature and chemical conditions meet the product specification. It is not intended for extreme high-heat core engine areas.

Do you offer custom-cut or OEM service?

Yes. XMQX supports custom sizes, cut-to-length processing and custom packaging based on drawings, with batch sampling inspection before shipment.

What is the difference between flat width and diameter?

Flat width is measured with the sleeving laid flat. Diameter is the inner size when it opens into a round tube. Flat width = diameter × 3.14 ÷ 2.
